Science behind sleeping partners

Posted by Becky M. at 3:03 PM
Ok so this got me thinking last night: Can a person who is suffering from a health-related symptom feel better just by being close to/sleeping next to someone with soothing energy?

Yesterday I stressed myself into a headache/irrated state. I left work early and came home to rest and work on my homework. I didn't take Tylenol or any pain medicine, but did try drinking as much water as I could (keep hydrated). Then my boyfriend gave me some tylenol later and by this point i was getting fussy and...well...pretty much acting like a 5 year old in pain. I asked him to sit near me for a while (just because i was lonely), and we lied down together. I don't know what it is but within a few minutes having my bf hold me, my pain slowly improved and my entire attitude seemed to dissapate. So this got me into thinking about my theory: that a partner can relieve the stresses and pain of the other partner just by touching/ being in close proximity of one another (kinda like a mother caring for her children). I'm not saying that my boyfriend is my mom, but it does pose a good fact that the love and nurturing feelings that a person has for another can significantly make a person feel better. :)
